Mechanical Engineer
Report to Quality & Environmental Manager
Criteria:

University Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Metallurgy) or equivalent (Critical)
ISO internal auditor (Critical)
1 - 3 years of working experience as Quality Engineer in an industrial environment (ideally in Oil & Gas, Shipbuilding, Heavy Steel Engineering, Automotive manufacturing or related) (Critical)
1 to 3 years of working with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 (Critical)
Proven knowledge of Quality Standards and International Codes,
Technical knowledge - quality control and production processes, Welding and surface treatment in Steel Industry/ heavy fabrication; technical rules and interpretation of the same; NDT norms applicable to welding and painting processes; measuring equipment
Quality control and management
Ability to interpret drawings and defining standards & procedures
Valuable interpersonal skills: analytical, precise and organised. Able to anticipate, detect and solve problems; excellent communication and able to build and lead teams; able to manage projects and coordinate project teams.
Exceptional communication with production team

Daily functions:

Responsible for overall quality controls and assurance in production.
Develop quality reports, prepare for new projects, improve current quality management system and ensure speedy resolution of quality concerns to ensure zero impact to the customer.
Assess and analyse that the product complies with defined quality standards and specification for smooth flow of materials without stoppages
Set up and publish visual aids / displays – Quality alerts.
Conduct various products/process audits (including layered audits and react to audit findings). Ensure compliance to ISO requirements and long-term strategic goal.
Attend customer audits.
Implement and maintain sound 5S Housekeeping standards in all quality inspection areas.
Production containment audits.
Prepare all quality product controls/tools for production and quality product documentation throughout manufacturing phases.
Assure all required control operations in all the production phases since raw material entry until finish goods.
Report the reasons for non-conformities and suggest required corrective actions to the supplier or production units.
Assist in driving down quality related costs and complete all RCA (G8D's) in the system within specified time frame.
Investigate and implement corrective actions on process monitoring findings.
Exercise control of non-conforming product including scrap data analysis.
Analyse the waste produced after the different production phases in order and plan actions to reduce waste and treat waste properly.
Quality investigations and follow-ups on immediate problems.
Liaison with Purchasing / Engineering on measuring equipment’s and customer (Deviation requests KPIs reporting).
Custodian of measuring equipment and product tools, including monitoring of quality devices’ calibrations and ensuring their maintenance.
Quality training and coaching of plant staff and operators about quality standards and quality control issues.
Manage the customer claims, investigate the event and perform root cause analysis, address it and follow-up internally and with the customer.
