PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The Rope Access Manager is responsible for the managing of the companies rope access operations and will ensure that all rope access activities are carried out in accordance with the OHS Act, SANs and the companies standards and procedures. The Rope Access Manager will report to the General Manager and work alongside the respective Contracts Managers and Site Managers on existing Operations.
The Rope Access Manager is accountable to develop the Rope Access business on a sustainable and profitable manner from infancy to maturity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The list of responsibilities detailed below is not intended to be exhaustive. Other tasks or duties may be assigned from time to time that are within the capabilities of the job incumbent.
To supervise and manage all rope access teams on a daily basis to ensure the optimum safe use of labour, equipment and materials is maintained, in order to meet the overall requirements of the contract and the necessary standards and procedures.
Allocate duties to the rope access teams that are made up of qualified and experienced personnel that are approved by Working at Heights Institute.
Ensure that all subordinates have received the required competency and safety training and are physically and mentally fit for rope access activities.
Ensure that all rope access personnel liaise with their team leader to ensure work is planned and carried out in the most efficient and safe manner. Rope access equipment and consumables are ready and safe for the work at the start of every shift. Rope Access Manager is to physically audit the teams to ensure that all rope access activities and equipment are in accordance with the necessary standards.
Implement any changes in Rope Access Standards and legislation timeously.
Interview, select, and in conjunction with HR appoint the allowable number of qualified and experienced Rope Access Staff to fulfil the needs of the Client and the Operation.
Ensure all rope access equipment is stored safely. Responsible for all rope access equipment in the company at all times.
Ensure all work requests from the client are satisfactorily and safely completed.
To ensure that all checks and inspections are carried out in accordance with the companies regulatory procedures.
To inspect all rope access work for safety, quality, production and legal requirements.
Ensure that all current health and safety standards and procedures are understood, maintained and adhered to at all time.
Monitor that Toolbox talks to be given to workforce on a regular basis by the team leader
Report any incidents or accidents, including any near misses to safety officer or immediate line manager, in order that these may be investigated.
Be familiar with site regulations and ensure that they are being observed
To maintain and enforce the Synergy philosophy of Good Housekeeping
Ensure that Safe working procedure training and job observation are done.
Must be able to fine and recruit qualified rope access personnel.
Must be able to assist with rope access tenders and proposals.
Must be the companyβs expert on Rope Access
Be approachable and understanding to both to the workforce and the management.
Maintain confidentiality of company information. Ensure that the companyβs position is protected.
Perform all tasks to a high standard to meet Standard Operating procedures and Codes of Conduct.
Must be able to liaise with the Department of Labour with regards to the execution of rope access activities.
Must be able to liaise with the clients to develop operational rope access plans.
Must be qualified in Working at Heights and Fall Arrest Planning.
1.3 COMMUNICATIONS
Liaise with personnel representing the client in order to meet the requirements of the contract and maintain excellent customer care.
Report and investigate all damage or loss of rope access equipment by others.
Communicate to all on a professional manner.

Will be required to travel to all rope access active sites and clients
Business Development utilizing existing business relationships within the industry.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, equipment, and tools of the rope access trade.
Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of rope access.
Ability to work from oral and written instructions, sketches and diagrams.
Ability to maintain good relationships with personnel of other departments
Skill in the use of standard tools and equipment of the rope access industry.
Computer literacy MS Word and Excel
NACE CIP Level 1
Previous experience in managing rope access projects with extremely good industrial painting experience on large tanks.
Must have good experience in Project Management.
Able to travel on a regular basis to the various sites.
