• Internal – Multichoice, M-Net, Supersport, Finance division, Financial Manager (at executive level)
Outputs • Focused, effective and timely economic advice on a wide range of matters to enable the business to meet and manage its objectives
o Application of economic concepts to novel and complex challenges.
o Identify the key economic issues and the best framework for considering them.
o Work with teams in the business and with external consultants to define workable solutions,
o Synthesize fast changing communications market information, anticipate market movement from current and past trends, and draw actionable conclusions and market intelligence
• Reliable, accessible and updated data for use in economic analysis of competition and regulatory matters and scenario analysis for business strategy purposes
• Compile and maintain key economic and financial data to support internal scenario analysis and economic advice on competition, regulatory and strategic business issues
o Identify key sources of data within the institution
o Identify external economic and financial data
o Build and maintain relationships with internal and external owners of data
o Collect market, industry, company, and competitor information
o Develop and maintain databases
• Provide recommendations on regulatory and business strategy matters supported by good data and quality modeling and analysis.
• Design and build quantitative models and apply econometric/statistical analysis to economic and financial data
o Reviewing, summarising and analysing industry trends;
o Managing large data sets and write programmes to implement complex analysis
o Use spreadsheet models to support economic analysis and explore scenarios
Education & Experience • Minimum qualification - Master’s degree in economics, finance or quantitative discipline like statistics or mathematics
• Five or more years’ experience in a regulatory, commercial and/or consulting environment.
• A good grounding in microeconomics, with training in one or more of industrial organisation, public economics or financial economics desirable
• Strong experience in the application of quantitative methods including:
• Analysis of financial and market data;
• Designing and building quantitative models and applying econometric or statistical analysis to economic and financial data;
• Collecting market, industry, company, and competitor information;
• Reviewing, summarizing and analyzing industry trends; managing large data sets and writing programmes to implement complex analysis;
• Experience drafting memos, expert reports and presentation materials;
• Experience working in a team-based, multi-task environment that requires precision work that is both qualitative and quantitative often with tight deadlines

• Use of statistical/econometric and financial modelling to conduct analysis and run scenarios
