Distribution Supervisor - Pietermaritzburg-On the Dot

On the Dot, a subsidiary of Media24 in KwaZulu-Natal, currently requires the services of a Distribution Supervisor.

We seek to appoint a dynamic and energetic individual to assume responsibility as Distribution Supervisor, reporting to the Distribution Manager. The position will be based at their offices in Pietermaritzburg.
Main purpose of the role

The purpose of this job is to be the driving force behind the commitment, motivation, customer satisfaction and productivity of allocated service providers and their teams in a 7 day multi publications networks. This role will manage subscription delivery contractors and/or route owners and have the responsibility to visit OtD pamphlet store clients to ensure service satisfaction in a specific distribution area.

Key outputs

Manage all product distribution, including informal trade networks, door to door delivery’s, subscription delivery and retail in a specified area within a region with a specific network focus as determent for the specific area
Identification of new opportunities to expand delivery footprint that can lead to positive increase in single delivery points for Media and Non Media products.
Ensure that agreements with all services providers are updated signed by all parties and maintained and renewed annually.
Ensure that all service providers including new appointment are trained and understand the documentation required to meet SLA’s.
Maintain a sustainable and cost effective 7 day delivery network.

Manage any exceptions with regards to the daily delivery times of the subscription network regionally and report any problems to the Distribution manager and Service support manager.
Monitor and ensure that service providers receive the subscription delivery reports daily.
Ensuring efficient administration of SAP street network database.
Manage and control daily Record keeping of all relevant BI information to do analysis and reporting to meet SLA’s.
Conduct regular analysis of the home delivery footprint and develop new strategies for areas of concern.
Maintain and monitoring delivery complaints on a daily basis and ensure that delivery complaints are below the SLA set target.
Ensure that redeliveries are executed and resolved within 120 minutes
Do service calls on pamphlet store clients by representing OtD to ensure high level of service in a specific area.
Manage, control and execute Incentive compensation in SAP on a monthly basis within the cut off times and audit requirements, check and make sure the cost per copy tariff per contractor is correctly captured in SAP as agreed with the contractors and approved by Management.
Record keeping of monthly IC reports per contractor to do cost analysis per contractor in order to ensure a cost-effective delivery network.
Manage, control and record keeping of plastic bags and rubber bands per contractor on a monthly basis to ensure cost is in line with the financial budget.
Prepare the magazine distribution documentation per contractor on a weekly basis to ensure a swift and flawless packing process.
Meet all key performance indicators for all contractor networks in agreed area
SOP compliance
Built strong relationships with stakeholders by providing relevant information, good service internally and externally and react to possible deviations in network performance

Requirements

Tertiary education in Logistics/ Distribution or similar, or relevant experience
Valid Driver’s License
2 years’ experience in Supervisory position
At least 5 years’ experience in a distribution centre or logistics environment
Knowledge and understanding of warehousing and distribution
Sound knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
Proficient in relevant software packages and applications
